Laproscopic Surgeries

Laproscopic Surgeries

Laparoscopic surgery

Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, involves performing procedures through small incisions using specialized instruments and a camera called a laparoscope. This approach offers several advantages over traditional open surgery, including reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery times, and smaller scars.

Indications for Laparoscopic Surgeries

At Sandozi Health, we offer a range of laparoscopic procedures for gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: Removal of the gallbladder for conditions such as gallstones or gallbladder inflammation.
  • Laparoscopic Appendectomy: Removal of the appendix due to appendicitis.
  • Laparoscopic Hernia Repair: Repair of inguinal, umbilical, or incisional hernias using minimally invasive techniques.
  • Laparoscopic Fundoplication: Surgical treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery: Including procedures for colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, or inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Laparoscopic Liver Resection: Removal of part of the liver for benign or malignant tumors.
  • Laparoscopic Pancreatic Surgery: For conditions such as pancreatic cysts or tumors.

Procedure Details

Before laparoscopic surgery:

  • Preparation: Patients receive instructions on fasting, medication adjustments, and preoperative tests as necessary.
  • Anesthesia: General anesthesia is administered to ensure comfort and safety during the procedure.
  • Detailed Consultation: Surgeons discuss the specific procedure, expected outcomes, potential risks, and recovery process with the patient.

During laparoscopic surgery:

  • Small Incisions: Several small incisions (usually less than one centimeter) are made near the surgical site.
  • Laparoscope Insertion: A laparoscope, a thin tube with a camera and light source, is inserted through one of the incisions to provide a clear view of the surgical area.
  • Surgical Instruments: Specialized instruments are used through the other incisions to perform the surgical procedure under the guidance of the laparoscope.
  • Closure: After completing the surgery, incisions are closed with sutures or surgical tape.
